iCycle meets the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility standard
03 February 2016
iCycle was delighted to have recently received accreditation on meeting the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility standard. To mark this iCycle received a certificate and letter of congratulations from Councillor Stewart Stacey, Cabinet Member for Commissioning, Contracting and Improvement.
The Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility aims to boost the local economy through support to the local supply chain, creation of job opportunities and ensuring employees are paid a fair wage. The Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility is a set of guiding principles to which Birmingham City Council adhere to and also invites its contracted suppliers, the wider business community, other public sector bodies (including schools) and third sector organisations to adopt.
The principles of the charter are:
• Local Employment
• Buy Birmingham First
• Partners in Communities
• Good Employer
• Green and Sustainable
• Ethical Procurement

Do you want to make a difference in your local community, meet some wonderful students, and/or get some work experience?
We are looking for volunteers to help out in iCycle, our bike shop based in Bearwood. We need people who are passionate about cycles and can explain the differences between brands. Ideally you will also have done Cytech training and be able to mend/assemble bikes, with support from our staff.
You need to be reliable, flexible, have a positive attitude to disability and a mature outlook on life.
We work with vulnerable adults so safeguarding is of the utmost importance to us, and you will be required to go through a DBS check (at no cost to you) and provide references.
If you are interested please download a Volunteer application form from the website and return it to our HR team either by post or via e-mail to HR@qac.ac.uk. Alternately please call HR to request a form on 0121 428 5014.
